Scentsy sells products directly to consumers in a non-retail environment. The products are sold from a network of Scentsy Consultants spanning 11 countries.
What Does Scentsy Sell?
Scentsy’s flagship product line is their scented wax and wax warmers. Most products are seasonal and they release new designs and scents frequently. Scentsy Bars are wax melts which are heated in handcrafted warmers, providing a safe, secure, harmless alternative to traditional scented flame candles. Every product features exclusive Scentsy fragrances.
They also sell Scentsy diffusers, which instantly fill the air with exquisitely fragrant, organic, essential oils made in-house by Scentsy. Furthermore, Scentsy creates and sells on-the-go fragrances (i.e. for the car), body and personal care products (i.e. lotions, soaps), innovative cleaning solutions (i.e. washer whiffs), and more, for kids, women and men.
Where are Scentsy products made?
Scentsy fragrance products are made entirely in-house at a top-notch manufacturing facility in Meridian, Idaho. However, all of Scentsy wax warmers are designed and made by talented artisans at a partnering manufacturing facility in China. Why China? Because all top grade porcelain is created from a special clay found only in China. Hence, the name Fine China.
How can I buy Scentsy products?

Does it take any experience to become a Scentsy Independent Consultant?

Is the Scentsy market saturated?
Surprisingly, it’s not. Many people have never heard of Scentsy, let alone wax warmers and wax melts! People who haven’t are usually very intrigued and want to try switching from scented candles to wax melts, which have many benefits and are safer. Scentsy is completely what you make of it, and it still has the potential to be a great opportunity to generate a lot of income.
Even in areas with the most Consultants, Consultants only reach just over 2%. That’s means there are a LOT of potential customers who still need to learn about Scentsy.
Plus, Scentsy is opening up to new countries, making the market even larger and allowing you to join the global expansion.
Is Scentsy only sold in the United States?
No. You can purchase and sell Scentsy anywhere in the USA, GUAM, CANADA, PUERTO RICO, and many APO addresses all over the world. Furthermore, Scentsy Europe has opened to the UK, IRELAND, GERMANY, POLAND, FRANCE, SPAIN, and AUSTRIA.
AND, more recently, Scentsy opened up to MEXICO, AUSTRALIA, and NEW ZEALAND.
Questions about Products/USE
What are wickless candles?
A wickless candle is a deeply fragrant wax bar that you heat to release scent into the air. Since the wax is gently warmed instead of burned, it is able to hold more fragrance oils than traditional scented candles. Also, because there is no flame, smoke, or soot, it is a much safer alternative to scented candles.
How are Scentsy wax bars warmed?
Scentsy’s gorgeous wax warmers contain a low-wattage bulb or heating system that slowly melts Scentsy Bar wax. This allows you to smoothly fill your room with one of the many distinctive and long-lasting fragrances that Scentsy produces.
How long will Scentsy candle bars last?
This depends on how you use your Scentsy Bars. There are eight cubes of wax in one Scentsy Bar. We recommend using one cube at a time, which will last you for 8 to 20 hours. What kind of light bulbs do Scentsy warmers use?
Scentsy’s full size warmers have a 25 watt bulb and Scentsy Mini warmers have 15 watt bulbs. And, the mid-size warmers have 20 watt bulbs. Although the 15-watt bulbs can be tough to find in stores, you can easily get replacement light bulbs from your Scentsy Consultant.
Can I use Scentsy wax melts in a non Scentsy warmer?
Yes, however, it is not recommended. Scentsy wax is made with Scentsy warmers in mind, so they reach the perfect temperature to warm the wax just enough for it to release its scent. Essentially, Scentsy warmers will be the most cost effective and efficient way to heat your wax.
What kind of wax is used when making Scentsy candle bars?
Scentsy wax is made from food-grade petroleum. Scentsy uses this kind of wax due to its excellent scent loading ability, firmness and melting point. Although Scentsy tried to use a good quality vegetable based wax, we were unable to find one that was able to hold scents well enough.
The wax used is completely safe as there are no chemicals released when heating it. Conversely, this is not the case with traditional wicked candles. Scentsy Warmers only heat the scent out of the wax, and the wax will remain in its entirety in the warmer (just in a melted state), which means that no dangerous chemicals are releasing into the air. The end result when heating a Scentsy Bar is the wax will be the same volume but there will be no more scent left in it. There is no wick, match, flame, soot, smoke, or wax evaporation!
What is food grade petroleum wax?
A food grade petroleum wax, which is what Scentsy uses to make wax bars, is the same wax grocery stores spray on apples to give them their shine.
How do I clean the wax out of the warmer?
If the wax is warm, you can easily pour it out into a disposable container or back into its original container. You can also wipe it clean with a paper towel. Another method, especially if the wax is at room temperature, is to heat it up for a few minutes and pull it from the edge in one piece OR put it in the freezer for 5-10 minutes with its lid on and then the wax will easily pop out like an ice cube from an ice cube tray. In addition, you can use cotton balls to soak up the warm wax and dispose of the cotton balls.
Questions About Shipping
What are shipping costs?
Shipping is free to one address if you reach the threshold of $200 in total pre-tax retail sales for home, basket and book parties. If you directly ship your orders to individual customers, shipping starts at $8 and can go up to 10%.
Shipping to Hawaii and Alaska starts at $10 for home, basket and book parties, and can go up to a 20% shipping charge if you want to directly ship orders to customers.
How long for product delivery?
Scentsy has a 10 business day shipping policy. Although it is often far less than 10 business days to pack and ship. Packages are shipped by UPS.
How do I place an order?
As a consultant, go to your Workstation’s Training Center to have a walk through on how to place an order:
1. Open your Workstation.
2. Click on “Training Center”.
3. Click “Explore Existing Training Content”.
4. Hover over “New Consultant”.
5. Get started on learning how to place orders.
From here you can also get information about launch parties, navigating your Workstation like a professional, and how to effectively and efficiently use Social Media to get leads and sales.
Where is my order?
Shipping orders from Scentsy’s warehouse can take up to 10 business days. When an order reaches “Shipped” status, you will be able to track your orders from your Workstation:
1. Click on the Orders tab.
2. Add the order number in the Order Number field and then press Enter.
3. Next to the order number, click the “View” button. The tracking number will appear below the Shipping address in blue.
4. Once you click on the tracking number, it will direct you to the UPS website where you will see the delivery date.
When will my Scent or Warmer of the Month ship?
We ship orders ASAP after processing. In the U.S., Scent and Warmer’s of the Month are processed on the 15th of the month.
How do I redeem Host Rewards?
You can find exact instructions on how to redeem host rewards in your Training Center on your Workstation. If I am your sponsor or Director – reach out to me via the contact info on your Workstation.
How can I add items to an existing order?
We are sorry to say that we are unable to reopen orders once you submit them. However, you can place a new separate order immediately.
How do I cancel an item from an order?
You can remove an item from an order within a set time frame by contacting Scentsy Consultant Support.
I received a message that my card was declined. What should I do?
Firstly, clear your cache and cookies, then confirm that all of your information is correct and try again. If you are still unable, we suggest that you contact your bank or credit card provider.
Who do customers write their check to?
Checks should be made out to the Consultant, not Scentsy. If you are hosting a party, ask the guests to write the checks out to the Hostess, then have the Hostess write once check for the entire batch to you, the Consultant. Paying by credit card, which includes Visa, MC, Amex and Discover, is also good.
Can Consultants purchase products at discount or “wholesale” prices?
Scentsy Independent Consultants pay for products at retail price in advance, so you are issued commission on the 10th of each month for your sales.
Does Scentsy ship to APOs?
Yes, Scentsy ships to APOs. However, there are some guidelines that you must follow, so please contact Scentsy Consultant Support if you have any questions about this.
Questions About Selling
Is Scentsy worth selling?
Absolutely! It’s not only a great way to earn income, it also provides a ton of personal growth. Income ranges from pocket money to executive level earnings. By joining Scentsy, you will become a member of the quickest growing home-based candle business. Scentsy also offers one of the highest compensation plans. We are dedicated to helping you become successful and we are always available to help you with any of your needs.
Can I sell online?
Yes, Yes, Yes! Independent Consultants can sell Scentsy products online through their personal Scentsy website. There are marketing regulations to be followed, but they are straightforward.
The website Scentsy provides you is free for the first 3 months. Afterward it is $10 a month.
However, please note that you are not allowed to sell on online auction sites like eBay, Amazon or Craigslist.
Can I sell at flea markets and yard sales?
You can sell at yard sales, but not at Fleas markets, as they don’t meet our criteria for a temporary event. If a market is a temporary event, it is fair game for a sales opportunity.
What other types of parties does Scentsy offer besides home parties?
You can run email, Facebook, text, Instagram and Snapchat parties. No matter what kind of party you run, you will still earn the same rewards as a traditional home party. Be creative.
Can I sell Scentsy at fairs and events?
You can sell Scentsy at local events and expos. You may purchase inventory to resale at the events or take orders during the event and fulfill them after. The policy is that there can be only one Scentsy consultant per event. The first Consultant to register and pay for the event gets to sell there. Events are an incredible way to reach new customers and potential teammates.
Can I sell Scentsy at retail establishments?
No, Scentsy Consultants are not allowed to sell in stores or other retail establishments like kiosks at the mall. With good reason. This keeps the consultant field level in opportunity. You CAN have a small product display set up in a retail location to collect orders.
What is a Scentsy basket party?
A “Basket Party” is similar to a Catalog Party. When guests aren’t able to make it to your Scentsy party, you can take the party to them! Although it might not provide them with the complete social experience that a home party does, the Scentsy basket party is a great alternative for those guests who are more “on-the-go”.
We will set you up with a lovely display basket that contains Scentsy product samples, order forms, and all the information you’ll need. Then you have around 2 weeks to share it with as many people in as many locations as you can. Afterward, you return the basket back with completed order forms and I will process and handle the rest.
Do Scentsy Consultants need to have a certain number of parties?
Absolutely not. The beauty of Scentsy is that it’s all about fitting your schedule and needs. Scentsy works around your life, not you around Scentsy. If you are hungry to make sales, you can do as many parties as you’d like. If you are busy, such as being a new mom, you can just serve repeat customers and keep it small. Essentially, it’s up to you how big you want to grow it.
How much are the Scentsy starter Kits?
When joining Scentsy it costs you $99 and you will automatically get your starter kit. Your starter kit will contain a complete set of scent testers, catalogs, order forms, plus everything you need to be successful as a Scentsy Consultant. You receive far more retail valued products than the $99. This includes a FREE website for the first three months.
There may be reduced priced join specials from time to time, but don’t wait to get started. You can earn back your kit fee very quickly.
How long does it take to receive my start up kit?
Generally, Scentsy will ship your starter kit within 72 hours of receiving your application. Starter Kits are shipped through UPS.
Will I get training before selling Scentsy?
Yes, I provide training as your sponsor (me being the Scentsy Consultant who sponsors you). Other training includes phone calls, training on Scentsy’s website, and yearly training by Scentsy leaders during convention.
What is Scentsy’s required sales quota required per month?
As of October 2018, in order to stay a Consultant, you need to place a minimum of 200 PRV (Personal Retail Volume – aka ~$200) in orders during at least one month out of every 4 months. Eg. if you sell $200 in the month of January, then you would have to sell $200 again in May to remain a Scentsy consultant. That’s just $600 per year to remain a Consultant!
You can schedule as many or as few parties as you like, and sell as much or as little product as you like, so long as you meet our 200 PRV every 4 months. Beyond that, there aren’t any monthly or annual requirements, or order minimums. You are also free to act as your own, which means you can be a Host & Consultant and get all of the free and discounted Scentsy items.

Questions About Selling
When will I receive my commissions?
All commissions and bonuses are paid to your workstation on the 10th of the month. Once the funds are in your workstation, you can transfer them to your bank account. Furthermore, a Scentsy Consultant in the USA will be issued a Scentsy Visa debit card, which is tied to your commissions account.
How much can I expect to earn by selling Scentsy?
It all depends on how much time and effort you want to put in. Scentsy Consultants earn 20-30% commission on their sales. Additionally, they make bonuses on sales from other Consultants they sponsor. To give you an idea of the top level, Scentsy Superstar Directors make six figure incomes. It really depends on YOU, for how much you will earn.
Do Scentsy Host Rewards roll over? Can Hosts Rewards be used later?
Unfortunately, they do not. Hosts need to use their free and half-price products as soon as they submit their Scentsy party orders.
If I’m not great at sales can I still be good at selling Scentsy?
Of course you can! Many of Scentsy’s top Consultants are not very sales-y people. The great thing about Scentsy is, it’s all about building relationships, as the products are truly great so they sell themselves.
What are the advantages of direct selling?
With direct selling, you have the freedom to be your own boss. You set your own schedule, so you can have all the flexibility you could dream of. You can work as many or as little hours as you like. You don’t need a degree or a background in sales to be successful. Direct selling is simple, enjoyable, and a great way to earn income. Nonetheless, it all depends on you, so you have to motivate yourself and find it within yourself to keep on pushing strong.

What are the levels of Scentsy Consultants?
Escential Consultant: This is your title when you first join Scentsy. At this point, you will make 20% commission on sales. Once you hit 1,000 PRV, you can promote.
Certified Consultant: This is the second level. Here you will earn 25% on sales.
Lead Consultant: To reach Lead Consultant level, you need 500 PRV in sales, 1 team member active, and a Group Wholesale amount of 1000 PRV. A Lead Consultant gets 25% and an Extra 2% from Personal Wholesale Volume, plus an additional 2% from Team Wholesale Volume for all your Escential or Certified Consultants.
The following levels are in order: Star Consultant, Superstar Consultant, Director, Star Director, and Superstar Director. The earnings can add up as you climb the ranks and I will teach you how to do just that.
Training & Requirements
What kind of support and training does Scentsy Corporate provide?
All Consultants are sponsored and mentored after recruitment. The Scentsy Consultant who sponsors you will train you one-on-one. Other training includes phone calls, online training on Scentsy’s corporate website, and yearly training from Scentsy leaders during convention.
Are there any scripts to memorize for a Scentsy home party?
No. There are no scripts required for a home party. However, we do offer some awesome training tools and advice about running a party successfully. Nevertheless, how you run your party is completely up to you, as this is YOUR business. It’s entirely up to you about what you say for everything from formal presentations to personal gatherings to one-on-one meetings. We like to make things simple, as you can see by our product line and pricing breakdowns, to make your life easy and relaxed so you can be yourself when selling.
Is there a dress code for a Scentsy home party?
Nope. We recommend dressing ‘business casual’ to make a professional impression, but you can wear whatever you like.
What if this just doesn’t work for me?
We realize that Scentsy might not work for everyone. So, you are free to leave Scentsy at any time, and there is no cancellation penalty. The cost to join Scentsy is only $99, so the risk is very minimal. It’s definitely worth giving it a try, as the upside is truly amazing when does work out for you.
